In all my interactions with photographers and folks looking to elope, I don’t think any of them have ever classified any place in the Midwest as a “prime elopement location.” I want to change that viewpoint. Being an elopement photographer from Minnesota, I’ve experienced just how much this state has to offer couples wanting to get married outside. There are so many hidden gems to explore. The best part is that if you’re also from the area, learning about where to elope in Minnesota can save you the trouble of traveling out of state—everything you could dream is right in your own “backyard!”
In this article, I’ve compiled a list of the best outdoor elopement locations in Minnesota for all the lovebirds wanting to infuse nature, in all its glory, into their big day.

The Upper Falls is a beautiful spot to witness the river cascading over the rocky ledge into the pool below—and it’s located just above the highway. As with any location along the north shore of Lake Superior, weather can vary, so make sure you plan ahead!
